Monkstrap Shoes

Defined by its buckle closure, the monk strap combines the polish of a classic dress shoe with a more individual, contemporary character. Colin Martin monk strap shoes are made to order in our Hanoi workshop, with single- and double-buckle designs, brogued details, leather combinations and hand-applied patina.

Handmade monk straps with distinction

Without conventional laces, the buckle and strap become part of the visual structure of the shoe. Our makers pay close attention to their placement, the balance of the quarters and the line of the toe so that each design remains expressive without losing refinement.

Each pair is cut, shaped, stitched and finished by skilled craftspeople. Selected models include Goodyear-welted construction, completed alongside last shaping, sole forming and patina work in our workshop.

Comfort refined beneath the surface

Colin Martin adjusts reinforcement in selected areas to improve softness and flexibility around the toe and heel while maintaining a composed silhouette. Supple, breathable leather is selected for the lining and footbed to support comfort throughout the day.

How to wear monk strap shoes

Black and dark brown single monks offer a restrained alternative to laced dress shoes. Double monks, brogued designs and burgundy or patina finishes create a stronger focal point with suits, tailored separates, chinos or dark denim.
